Wine
Morris CHM Durif is part of a long history of the Durif variety at Morris, beginning in 1920 when the grape was first planted at their Rutherglen vineyard.
The Durif was originally grown for Morris's fortified wines, but in 1954 Charles Henry 'Mick' Morris broke the mould and made their first Durif table wine. The CHM range is named in his honour.
The grapes are crushed into open fermenters. During the ferment, heading down boards keep the grape skins submerged to gently extract colour. After one week the wine is basket pressed.
Maturation is predominantly in French oak hogsheads for about two years. The wine is then blended and filtered prior to bottling.
Deep red purple, Morris CHM Durif is brimming with rich dark fruit flavours, oak tannins and a long, supple finish. Cellaring potential is 15 years.
